Have you read to your child lately?

In honor of "Read Across America Day", I visited M's class and read 2 books to the kids. The school is making is a whole week and they asked parents to come volunteer to read to the kids. They were very well behaved for me and I had a great time. I brought 2 of M's books in: "If you give a Mouse a Cookie" and "If You Give a Pig a Pancake". When we were on our way home, M said I did a really good job. That means a lot coming from my favorite year-old.

I think we are going to have to look into lock options for the doors this weekend. Two times this weekend, I came into the kitchen to find that Peter had wandered into the backyard. Thankfully, our yard is completely fenced in, but now we have to keep the bar lock on the slider at all times. What a pain. The thing that scares me though is that while my mother was getting their dinner ready tonight, P managed to open the side door and make it down the driveway before my mother realized he was gone. None of us thought that he could get the door or the screen door open on his own. We do live on a quiet street, but it scared me enough. For now,I think the deadbolt will be good enough, but once he is tall enough to reach it, I think we will have to figure out something else. *sigh* M never made us go through this.

Anyway, enough of the kids. Here is the latest piece I have been working on. It's for my cousin's 2nd born. It is Birth Announcement by Gloria and Pat Designs. I downloaded it from Patterns Online. This is 5 hours.

The birth sampler is very pretty!

What is it with 2nd born children. Katie seems to be far more adventurous than her older brother ever was too!
