Long update

It's been pretty busy around here and having my website and blog down for a few days didn't help. Last week, I worked Tuesday and Wednesday, a my mom had a doctor's appointment on Monday. Monday,M made up her swim class, then the kids and I did shopping and played in the pool, then picked up mom. Thursday, I took mom to the bus stop, then ran back to tutor. Friday, I took the kids to the preschool and did some more painting. I have photos to show, but they are trapped in my camera. I'll try to set them free this evening.

This weekend was very mellow for us. John is on call this week and of course he got called in both days. Saturday, I managed to get all my laundry and shopping done for the week. Plus played with the kids outside. They are getting to a point now where I can relax on the deck while they play. I'm liking that. I'm not to a point where I can stitching yet, because I often have to push someone on the swing or stop a fight, but I'll get there. Sunday, we were outside for most of the day. There was an awesome breeze.

I have taken on a new student. He is going into the 4th grade and needs reading and writing help. I suggested to his mom that he write in a journal everyday to not only work on his writing, but to work on his atrocious penmanship. She was totally for it, but he was not too happy with me. LOL He chose The Hardy Boys #3 to read together, so I am reading that right now.

Let's see, my living room still looks like that photo below. Our carpet hasn't been installed yet. Grrrrr. I will be so happy when my life feels less chaotic! I got a new cell phone. It's a LG Chocolate in Black Cherry. I got a 4GB card for it and am loving it! I am using it as an MP3 player at work. LOL

We also got a new fridge. We bought a Whirlpool with bottom freezer drawer. I am going to admit begrudgingly, that spending the money to have the plumber install the ice maker was worth it. I have actually been using ice more now. Maybe it was the ice trays that held me back. LOL I went shopping and the fridge still looks empty, it's so big. We took out the cabinet that was over the old one. I'll post a photo of that as well.

back to work...photos tonight, I promise!

5 reasons....

Why I hate the summer:
#5 - The heat
#4 - The humidity
#3 - Birthday parties outside in the heat and humidity
#2 - Anything outside in the heat and humidity
and the #1 reason I hate summer..... THE HEAT with HUMIDITY!!!

Is it September yet?

My niece's birthday party was yesterday. It was fun. Hot and humid, but fun. There was no drama, no conflict, just a nice relaxing crazy day filled with kids, bouncy houses, pinatas and cake. Happy 2nd birthday, Maya. Time is flying by too quickly!

Thank you for all of the sympathy that I have been getting on the water situation. My house still looks like those photos and the equipment is still there. But, I would rather have a huge electric bill instead of a mold problem down the road, right? Hopefully, they will be out of there this week.

To add further stress, our fridge is dying. So, it looks like we are buying a new fridge this week. *sigh* Does it ever end? Looks like this will be our joint anniversary present to ourselves. We ordered the new carpet for the basement on Saturday and looked at the fridges at Home Depot. They are having a sale, so I think we are going to head there this evening to order one.

Want the best way to get rid of pent-up anger? Defrost your lab freezer and bang away at the ice. LOL

Photo finish

Since my house is still in complete chaos, I thought I would share photos so that you can feel my pain. LOL

This is what my kitchen currently looks like:

There is a small path around to the sink and stove. Let's just say that we have been eating out a lot this week.

My living room:

And just for kicks, a couple of photos of the water: (Note: these were taken after they had started sucking up the water.

The adjuster is paying for all new carpeting. The fans and dehumidifiers have been here all week. There is one wall that just won't dry, so we may be looking at replacing drywall. Also, today, they pulled up part of the floor in John's room (the raised one) to find that there was a 2x4 in the center of the room that was blocking the air from getting to that part, so it still had water. If they can't get that dry, then we might be looking at redoing that entire floor. This nightmare doesn't want to end. They don't want us to put down new carpet until it is figured out. Which means, no basement for a couple of weeks...which means no stitching chair or stash. I do get to empty my kitchen today, though as most of that stuff goes into the unfinished part, which is dry. Yay!

Since my stitching stuff is ALL OVER the place now, I am going to concentrate on small stuff in my stitching bags for now. The rotation is on hold. I just can't deal with it until I get everything back into the basement. I have been working on the Barbie nightstand. I finished it yesterday.

M picked out the beads for the knobs. I think it came out so cute! She can't wait for the nest piece. I started cutting out the dresser last night. I am actually having fun doing this.

Off to fold laundry.
