It's raining....

"It's raining".... That is what the maintenance guy just told me in response to my showing him the leak in the lab ceiling. No, really? Apparently, it happens all the time and I am just going to have to live to with it until the hospital decides to put on a new roof. Nice! I'll have to make sure that there is nothing important in the area.

We had a good weekend. It was busy. Friday, the kids and I went to a play date at one of M's classmate's house. There were like 12 kids there, classmates and sibs. It was chaos, but the kids had fun. It was interesting to watch the boys though. They really started acting like boys and wouldn't let the girls play with them. I think it was the first time any of us moms had really seen the division in the sexes since they all seem to get a long so well at school and on the playground. M remarked on this several times after we left. I didn't know what to say to her. :( When we got home, SIL and niece came over and SIL's friend and her son showed up. The kids had fun playing on the swing wet. Needless to say they were exhausted by the end of the night.

Saturday, Michelle came down with the boys for a play date. More running around and energy burning ensued. I do have photos, but they are being held hostage in my camera at the moment. Then we had John's Step-mom and other sister over for dinner. Sunday, we took P to take his 2 year photos. They came out so cute! I'll post them when I get them. The rest of the day was laundry and playing.

I have been stitching on my fantasy exchange piece. It's a secret! Shhhhh.....

Knee Deep in Plastic

I think I need to give up the hope that I will blog every day. Maybe when I am not so wiped at night. I haven't even really been stitching much lately. Last night, I spent the night cutting plastic canvas. Someone gave me 2 books with patterns for plastic canvas Barbie furniture. I made the mistake of leaving it out and M saw it. So, guess who is making Barbie furniture now? We went to Walmart yesterday and picked out some yarn and canvas. I cut out the pieces last night for the bed. Of course, try explaining to a 4YO that these wont' be done over night. LOL I'll post some WIP photos later in the week.

I am now working a half day on Mondays at the hospital along with a full day on Tuesdays. I have loved being home full time, but I am looking forward to getting back into work. I actually feel like I have a break from the kids while I am here. I really like my new lab and new boss. I think I am starting to get excited about science again. Something I haven't felt in a long time.

We had a quiet weekend. Yesterday, we went out shopping for a new patio door. The previous owners' dogs tore up the molding in the outside, so we can't use the screen door on nice days. We have a pretty good idea of what we want. We are still going to look around until we make the final decision. I loved the one with the shade in the door. It would allow us to get rid of those awful blinds that we have now!

Ok better get to work.

Taking a breath

The week is almost over and soon I might feel free to breath a bit. I have been buys every night this week. Monday night, I had my last EGA board meeting (well as president anyway). Tuesday, I worked all day and then rushed home to go to a PTU meeting. Wednesday, I took M to her school in the evening for a cookie party. IT was fun. The kids got to frost and decorate a cookie, then eat tit. They also had Santa there and a woman who told stories through movement. I left P at home with John, since I had to volunteer for the first session. M and I had fun spending time together alone. Yesterday, I ran out with the kids and got the rest of the supplies for M's party. We got home just as the storm hit. I didn't end up having to tutor at all last night because the storm was just too bad. This is what we woke up to this morning:

While I waited for my mother to get here so I could go to work to finish packing the lab, I took the kids out for a few minutes. The snow was so deep that P couldn't walk. I think we got about 12 inches. He did have fun until he fell face first in it. Poor thing.

M had fun making snow angels.

And they went for a ride in the sled.

The lab is packed and ready to move to a new building. MY new space is huge and much brighter. I think I'll like it. I am going to be increasing my hours at the hospital sometime after the first of the year. I have a new boss, but pretty much the same job. Should be good.

Party-wise, I think we are set. I have the cake, the decorations, and goodies. The favor bags have been filled and the pinata has been stuffed. I can't believe M is going to be 4 on Tuesday! She is very excited about the party tomorrow. I'll post pictures soon!

A few flakes will do...

I started tutoring a student in AP chemistry this morning. I have some refreshing to do, because I will admit it has been a while. Shouldn't be too hard though. The girl knows the material, she just has a hard time translating it over to the tests, so that is what we will be focusing on mostly...test taking.

When I got home from tutoring, M wanted to go outside, so badly. It snowed last night, but was quickly melting this by the time I got home. In any case, I bundled them up in snowsuits and boots and let them loose on the pitiful patch of snow we had in the backyard. They had fun. P fell face first into the snow, and I don't think he liked that too much. I hope we get some decent snow this year. Every kid needs to play in the snow.

And now to the HD of the week. This is Q is For Quilt by The Nutmeg Needle. I took it was a class in 1999, I think. I'm glad I finally threw it into my rotation, because it stitched up pretty quickly. It took about 21.5 total hours. I think I'll make it into a wall hanging, at some point. You know, when I have more time. LOL I'm now working on Mini Madalas I.
